Jensen Wide Awake â Wins the 2024 Swan Award

With nearly 200 Swan-labelled products and clear, transparent communication, Norwegian bed manufacturer Jensen has made it easier for consumers to make more environmentally friendly choices—even in the bedroom. Now, the company has been awarded the 2024 Swan Award.
“To succeed in creating a more circular economy, we need to produce high-quality products and make sustainable choices easy for people. That requires targeted efforts across the entire value chain—from design and production to marketing. Consumers are tired of empty greenwashing, so the key is to be specific and have evidence to back up your claims. Jensen is a role model in this regard,” says Cathrine Pia Lund, CEO of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
On Tuesday, June 3, she presented the 2024 Swan Award to Jensen with the following statement:
"This year’s winner stands out through its comprehensive, consistent, and visible use of the Swan label in all communication. The company provides well-documented, transparent information about its products and actively communicates the sustainability work it is actually doing. With nearly 200 eco-labelled products in its range, the winner makes it easier for consumers to make responsible choices.
Particularly impressive is the company’s systematic approach to training employees and in-store sales staff—not only in Norway and the Nordic region, but also in markets outside Europe.

The Swan label sets ambitious requirements, covering the entire product life cycle and all environmental impacts that may occur along the way. It’s challenging for companies to meet these standards, but when you're precise and have full supply chain documentation, it becomes easy to communicate, easy to choose—and easy to sleep well at night.”

Decades of High Quality and Clear Marketing
At Jensen, we’ve been producing high-quality beds with a low environmental footprint for decades. The Swan label is a well-respected ecolabel with a high level of trust, and having our products certified gives peace of mind to both people and the environment. That matters to us. We are therefore very proud to receive the 2024 Swan Award,” says Jan Trygve Jensen, Managing Director at Jensen.
Swan-labelled furniture must meet strict requirements for environmental impact, health, and quality—from the choice of materials to a design that makes the products easy to repair, reuse, and recycle. The goal is to ensure that products can function as part of a circular system.
Jensen has been manufacturing beds in Svelvik, Norway since 1947. Today, its Swan-labelled beds and accessories are sold and marketed in 20 countries.
“We’ve worked systematically to control our environmental impact. The Swan label is a central part of that work, helping us offer safer and more environmentally friendly beds—and communicate this clearly to our customers. The EU is now tightening requirements for both production and communication, and we believe this will encourage even more people to choose ecolabelled products. For us, it’s the obvious choice,” says Jensen.
