The planet is not renewable, so we have to be.

The World Environment Day 2022 reminds us that, “In the universe are billions of galaxies. In our galaxy are billions of planets, but there is only one Earth”. 

Let's take care of it. 

Humanity experiences loss of habitats, wide spread pollution and challenges with waste management. Waste that too often ends up in our nature and oceans. That's why we at Jensen work by the motto; “the planet is not renewable, so we have to be”. 

Much has happened to the perception of what a bed is since the founding of Jensen in 1947, both regarding innovation, sleep comfort and sustainability. It feels better to sleep in a bed that is free of harmful chemicals, with natural textiles and environmentally certified materials.

All beds from Jensen carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. This is among the world's most demanding certification programs, which for Jensen involves the highest expectations to the entire life cycle of the beds. This implies production, suppliers, quality and recycling. In addition, all Jensen beds are tested by AEH – an independent test institute. Most of the wood we use in our bed frames is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring sustainable sourcing and processing.

Jensen works with circular design. You probably wonder what that means. Well, it involves producing beds that last as long as possible, while at the same time reducing each bed's footprint on our environment. We produce our products in Norway, namely in the small town of Svelvik, where Jensen started its adventure 75 years ago.

An increasing number of parts in a Jensen bed can be replaced, and more materials are recycled. The textiles we use are Green Care and Easy Care, which means that they are produced with 75 % lower CO2-emissions than for example virgin polyester, and the textiles satisfy the strict requirements of the Swan Label.

Through our cooperation with Norsk Gjenvinning and Grønt Punkt we have reduced waste from production by 18 %, and our use of plastic decreased by 16 tons last year.

Jensen strives to be the best on the environment and the best to create sleep comfort. There are no contradictions between what is important for our planet and what is important for our health; a good night's sleep.
